Daily Photos : I've been avoiding this exercise. Basic Laziness, I suppose. These are mostly macro shots from my yard and around the house. I've been experimenting with different filters in Nik Color efx. That and the macro element are pushing me into a more "impressionist" feel to the shots. Add: 6/24...Made a rule that all shots in this gallery have to come from my house and garden...that should make things interesting. 6/27...beginning to milk my instruments...starting with my Ric 12 String...more to come. 7/2...got sidetracked a bit...just found out one of my pictures won a blue ribbon at the Orange County (CA) Fair. Still don't have details. Here's a few shots taken at sunset in our backyard. 7/3...wind is wreaking havoc on macro shots...had to construct a barrier that broke the wind but still allowed sufficient light. Hope you enjoy.

Word of the Day : I've seen, and been inspired by, many "photo a day" projects, so I thought I'd try one myself, with my own little grammarian spin: create a photo using a Word of the Day gadget on my Google homepage for guidance and inspiration. And what better day than January 27, my thirtieth birthday, to begin such an undertaking? (Okay, <i>maybe</i> new year's day, but I was too lazy to bother then.) This project is also to help keep me thinking and creating images the way DGrin's <a href="http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=55280">Last Photographer Standing</a> contest has challenged me to do--a challenge I've found really enjoyable and creatively stimulating. Wish me luck (and perseverance) in this endeavor!<br>

I guess the main reason, of course, is that I would like to improve upon my photography skills. I mean, if I take at least

My Book of Days-365 (ish) project : I am not even in the same league with these guys but I've been inspired (as an addicted lurker to their 365 Projects) by Andi Tippie <a href="http://www.tippiepics.com">tippiepics</a> and Kate Crafton (www.katecrafton.com) to try this out. I am passionate about photography (just ask my two boys who, at 3.5 and 20 months are SICK of me taking their picture! ) I want to learn learn learn as well as take the time to document our lives together as a family. My philosophy is that: life is happening NOW--there are no dress rehearsals--so why not just try it? I want to get more involved in the photo/SmugMug community as well so I thought this may be a good place to get my shy self "out there". I am learning Capture NX and PSE but have no official editing training other than my trusty e books/tutorials and lots of hours logged onto my laptop while the kids are sleeping.
Here goes--my official "Photo Journal". In it I will publish self portraits -in hopes of learning to be more comfortable with the camera myself (see my Blog for more info on that) as well as pictures that I hope for feedback on to improve or learn from. After thinking about it--I don't think I can stand to look at myself in photos for a whole year--yuk! IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE: that I do this project for myself and my family--so some days there will be more than one photo if I feel so inclined. I don't want this project to become cumbersome...but I want to use it to document a year in our lives as well as to learn as much as I can from taking various pictures. I value and appreciate any feedback from all of you.

Basically it's about sharing <b>a photo per day</b> in your daily life. There is <b>no rulebook</b> on what one should photograph - just be sure you <b>have fun</b> at doing it, because it's no competition of any kind and you're going to do it for a very long time if you like to. As a matter of fact I'm on my 619th picture by today (February 14th 2006) without having missed a single one. I started the project June 6th 2004 inspired by <a href="http://doctorit.smugmug.com">DoctorIt</a> and <a href="http://xoxo.smugmug.com">Vanessa Naylon</a>.<br>It's <b>no biggie if you miss a day</b> for a good reason - remember it's for fun and were're not here to prove anything to anyone, except for perhaps proving something to yourself. Just keep on posting your pictures and don't forget to add your new galleries to the community!<br><br>I'll reserve myself the right to remove some of the older galleries in case the community gets to cluttered. Currently, I'm not sure on how many galleries we should keep per member, so I just added some of my favorite months in addition to the most recent.
